Acer palmatum Red Panda™ is a compact dwarf selection in the Mikawa Family Collection. Red Panda™ has the tight layering habit similar to 'Mikawa yatsubusa' but with a bright orange-red spring color that holds longer than other colorful Mikawa-types. For us in WNC, we have had color in late spring to early summer. Secondary flushes on Red Panda™ during the summer has orange-red new growth. Red Panda™ may reach 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. Fall color onRed Panda™ is a bright fiery red.

The Little Red Panda

This little guy finally found its way to my doorstep after missing him by seconds past couple tries on the 10@10. Beautiful looking specimen, cannot wait to get him in the ground & watch him spread his wings. Congratulations to Tim & Matt for creating this amazing new tree to the Mikawa family, their patience searching for the right seedlings really paid off.

Acer Palmatum Red Panda

Hello,
I was pleasantly surprised I got a Red Panda off of the 10@10. The plant arrived a couple of days later and was an excellent size and shape. I haven’t planted it yet but am looking forward to seeing it color up this fall. I have heard the Spring colors are awesome.
Thanks again to Mr Maple for providing us the opportunity to collect some rare cultivars.
