Juniperus pingii is a slow-growing evergreen conifer native to China's subalpine forests and alpine regions. Reaching 1–3 ft in height and 1–2 ft in width over 10 years, it features drooping branches, densely packed gray-green foliage, and a compact form, making it ideal for bonsai or small gardens. The waxy, glaucous-green leaves are lanceolate to scale-like, and its globose seed cones mature to a shiny purplish-black or bluish-black color in two years, each containing a single seed.
